Two Tokay High wrestlers took first place in their respective weight classes at the third annual Rod Gaines Invitational at The Jungle on Saturday.
That helped Tokay take second place in the 11-team tournament with 137 points. Oakmont of Roseville won the tournament with 208 points. Lodi, which also had two wrestlers win their weight classes, was fouth at 121 points.
Lorenzo Millan (152-pounds) and Carlos Torres (195) won their respective weight classes for Tokay with perfect records.
Lodi’s top finishers were Jacob Lalonde (145), who went 3-0 with one pin and one major decision. Steven Shumate (160) also went 3-0 with a pin.
Leobardo Garcia (145) took second place. Two Tigers competed at 160, as Jacob Pursell was second and Moises Luciano third. Jason Ordinola (220) was second.
Tokay’s third place finisher was Cameron Senner (195), while teammate Ivan Becerra (heavyweight) was fifth.
Lodi’s third place finishers were Killian Deyarman (113), who went 2-1 that included two pins and Shawn Carpenter (heavyweights), 3-1 with two pins. Christian Zamora (160) was fourth at 4-1 with a pin. Felipe Dematos (220) went 2-2 with two pins.
Oakmont won seven of the 14 weight classes, five of which included weight classes 106 to 132.
