Letter: Israel belongs to the Jews

It is written that God made a covenant with Abram (Abraham) and gave him and his progent, the Jewish people, the “Promised Land,” or “Holy Land”... the “Land of Milk and Honey,” Israel. It is recorded in the Scriptures this land grant stretched from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates.

According to biblical accounts, it is accurate to say the land grant of Israel was really much larger than the re-established State of Israel is today. The Jewish people currently inhabit about 6,000 square miles. The actual land given to Abraham comprised all of current Israel including the Gaza Strip, Judea and Samaria, parts of Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Saudi Arabia, altogether about 12,000 square miles.

The Israelites possessed this land approximately 1,500 years before Christ. It was already promised by God to Abraham in 2,000 B.C. and he lived in this land. In this territory there is Hebrew, Jewish culture, Hebrew language and Jewish holy sites. This fact is well known, the land has always belonged to the Jews even if temporarily occupied by other nations... only occupied. This fact has never been taken up in international politics nor the media, and is less and less spoken about in Christianity and academia.

The Arabs calling themselves Palestinians today have no connection with the ancient Philistines of early biblical time. There never was a land of Palestine nor a Palestinian language, not a Palestinian culture, government or holy sites either.

Israel’s ground is connected to Israel’s Judaism. It is in the process of being re-inhabited through ‘Aliyah,’ that is, the return or “coming home” of the Jewish people after 2,000 years of worldwide dispersion. Israel is re-established and being repopulated by Jews who are willing to share and be good neighbors, but not be dispossessed and murdered ever again.

For interest, the biblical references on this subject are: Genesis 15:1-21; Deuteronomy 11:1-32; Joshua 1:1-9 and Numbers 34:1-29.
