Students at Lodi Montessori performed in their first holiday play on Friday night. Our teachers have been preparing for months: making costumes, rehearsals and arranging the stage and lighting for this special night.

Children are simply amazing, and we are extremely proud of our young friends for their continued dedication that we just had to share it with the community.

The name “Stone Soup” comes from an old folk tale in which hungry travelers discover a poor village and offer to make soup for its villagers. They set about boiling stones and slowly convince the villagers to add their meager food scraps to the communal pot. In the end, all enjoy the cooperatively-made “stone soup.” The moral of this story is that by pooling resources and combining our efforts, we are each and collectively better off.

The children all did well in their first play. We had a full house the night of the event, Friday, Dec. 19. The parents and family members proudly gave the children a standing ovation at the end.

The children all worked very hard to memorize their lines and did they remember! It was a fun event and we hope to be able to put on a holiday show for the families each year going forward.

Vy Ergonis is the officer manager for Lodi Montessori.
