Lodi Rotary Club announces speech contest winners

Bear Creek High School students took top honors at the 2015 annual Lodi Rotary speech contest held on Jan. 29.

Teacher and Coach Karen Minick was very proud of her students and their recent performance at the Lodi Rotary luncheon. This year’s winners are Anthony Nguyen, first place; Abi Aragon, second place and Felicia Harris, third place. The student’s speeches were based on the 2015 Rotary theme of “Dream, Act, Win Now” through humanitarian and educational service. Anthony Nguyen will go on to participate in the next Area One level competing with other high schools in the area including Lodi and Galt. Winners of the Area One contest will go on to compete at a district level on March 1in Monterey. This year’s contest was organized by club member Jeff Thompson, former educator and Principal of Bear Creek High School.
