Lodi Elks Lodge hosts Scouts Pinewood Derby event

Scout leaders from back left are Carrie Martin and Megan Flint. Scouts from left are Anthony Jackson, Wesley Keane, Ben Miller, Brian Martin, Gabriel Kline and Logan Kettelman.

On Jan. 24th, the Lodi Elks Lodge No. 1900 donated the use of its facilities to the Cub Scouts Pack 295 for its annual Pinewood Derby. This event, in which the children build their own race car, helps improve their craftsmanship skills. It instills healthy competition amongst youth and helps their self-esteem.

Parental involvement helps them learn skills for their future endeavors. Special thanks goes out to Scout Master Glen Glissman for hand crafting and donating the awards plaques which holds the child’s winning car. The Elks are pleased to be able to help the scouts towards the betterment of our community.
