I arrived at the Lodi Grape Festival Grounds just before noon on Thursday, where I met with Deputy Rich Garcia of the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office who introduced me to Deputy Jared Perkins, Stockton Police Officer Antoinette Laffranchini and other members of the AB 109 Task Force, which was created to monitor and track prisoners released on parole or probation.

The team had gathered for the second day of the Sheriff’s Office’s Safe Holidays Operation, and after a briefing in the Grape Festival’s Chardonnay Hall where we learned that Wednesday’s efforts resulted in 34 arrests and three firearms recovered, Garcia, Perkins, Laffranchini and I got into an unmarked Chevrolet Impala and made our way to Stockton.
