Insider’s Profile: Stephanie Hiatt, News-Sentinel Newspapers in Education Coordinator

Stephanie Hyatt eats a candied apple outside the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory in Downtown Lodi, on Thursday, May 7, 2015.

My favorite place to eat: Lodi Beer Company. The food is fresh and served in healthy portions. My favorite meal is the spinach salad with salmon, a regular staple on the menu. My meal is always complete with a Lodi Lite — the best light beer in town.

One thing not to miss on a tour of Lodi: A historical tour of the original A&W Root Beer. Although the restaurant has been renovated, there are plenty of pictures and memorabilia for a walk back in time. The best part of your visit is sampling a famous root beer float.

A favorite outing: I am in love, but not the way that you think. I have fallen in love with a sweet treat. Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory has a marshmallow covered in caramel and then dipped in milk chocolate — my new love. I justify my treat by taking a stroll in Downtown to enjoy some window shopping.

One secret about Lodi: The name of the Creedence Clearwater Revival song was chosen at random, but it fits our town.

Favorite place to shop: My favorite place to find a one-of-a-kind fashion piece is Fashion Safari, their staff is always friendly and very helpful in putting together outfits and accessories to match. I recently went into the store and I left with an amazing skirt and the feeling that I was shopping with a friend.

Something quirky or cool about Lodi: The majority of our events revolve around wine, because the best wine is made in and around Lodi.
