July is about berries!  Join us July 8th at 10:00-11:30 am at the Lodi Library to learn about growing and preserving berries. Call to reserve your seat 209-953-6100.

The University of California CE Master Gardeners and Master Food Preservers will be speaking about growing and preserving blueberries, raspberries and blackberries.  Find out the best varieties to grow in our Central Valley and how to care for them from the UCCE Master Gardeners.  The UCCE Master Food Preservers will speak on the different methods of preserving your harvest so you can enjoy them throughout the year.

Berries are not only “Berry Delicious” they are extremely healthy for you.  Quoted from Oregon State University  “Scientists have found berries have some of the highest antioxidant levels of any fresh fruits (measured as ORAC), and kale and spinach are the only vegetables with ORAC values as high as fresh, delicious berries. Fresh berries are some of the most powerful (and delicious) disease-fighting foods available.”  More detailed information on the health and nutritional benefits of berries can be found at: http://berryhealth.fst.oregonstate.edu/health_healing/fact_sheets/
