P4P Energy, a company that specializes in solar panels and suspension technology, was chosen to receive a $1 million award from the U.S. Department of Energy’s SunShot Initiative.

P4P’s lightweight solar panels and cable suspension systems could potentially help the company expand into segments of the market that might have previously been unable to afford solar panels.

The company plans to use the money to help improve its design, manufacturing and assembly processes, as well as construct a solar parking canopy at the Louise Perez Resource Center in Sacramento, working with the Community Resource Project with support from the Sacramento Municipal Utilities District.
