Theres never been a better time to visit the City by the Bay. Hotels are posting terrific rates, some of the best values ever. Even the citys newest and ritziest hotels are offering deals. The Four Seasons used to operate the Clift, which has reopened as Ian Schragers first San Francisco property. Despite Schragers plan to maintain rates starting at $325 per night, the Clift is discounting at least through March 31: Stay two nights for $295 per night and get the third night free, plus a $50 credit at the hotels restaurant, Asia de Cuba. The deal pencils out to $180 per night. (Before booking, check with a travel agent; earlier rooms were available for $175 per night through agents.) The hotel is at 495 Geary St; (800) 652-5438 or www.clifthotel.com. The Huntington Hotel & Nob Hill Spa, where one can live in the style of a railroad baron, has a $300-per-night luxury room package that includes unlimited access to the spa and chauffeured sedan service within the city. On weekends through March 31, the oh-so-cool W San Francisco is offering a room for two, free parking, two tickets to the Museum of Modern Art and a choice of either two martinis or breakfast for two. The price: $229, compared to the standard weekend rate of $269, without the goodies. The hotel is at 181 Third St.; (877) W HOTELS or www.whotels.com. The Fairmont has a $189 per night package through Feb. 28 that includes free parking, a disposable camera, Pier 39 discount coupons and a chefs basket of goodies to enjoy on your way home. The citys three leading boutique hotel companies Kimpton Group, Joie de Vivre Hospitality and Personality Hotels have teamed with American Express to launch www.sfonsale.com. Until April 30, the companies are offering rooms at rates of $99 to $135 per night. Pay with an American Express card and get an additional 10 percent discount. Kimpton operates 16 hotels in San Francisco. Winterfest rates range from $99 per night at the Monticello Inn, Clarion Bedford and Cartwright hotels, to $175 a night at Hotel Palomar. Joie de Vivre Hospitality operates 12 boutique hotels in San Francisco. Their best winter deals: rooms for $95 a night at Hotel Bijou, the Commodore, Andrews, Phoenix and Savoy hotels; rooms are $135 a night at the Archbishops Mansion, Hotel Del Sol, Jackson Court, Laurel Inn, the Maxwell, Nob Hill Lambourne and Hotel Rex. Four Personality hotels are offering super winter deals. Stay at Hotel Union Square or Hotel Metropolis for $99 a night or at the chic Hotel Diva or the Kensington Park Hotel for $139 a night and get a credit card good for one night free on your next visit (when you pay for at least one other night). The boutique style 667-room Argent, in the SoMa district, has a great deal for anyone driving to San Francisco. If you dont mind walking down the hallway to the bathroom, the San Remo Hotel in North Beach is offering rooms for two starting at $65 per night.(Singles run $55 per night.)
