Happenings this fall at Hutchins Street Square

Jazz, a Broadway-style show and “The Secret Garden” are among the fall performances planned at Hutchins Street Square this year, said Theresa Yvonne, Lodi Arts Commission coordinator.

Tickets, reservations and other information are available by calling 367-5442.

The Senior Follies is a Broadway revue-type show, modeled after the Palm Springs Follies.

Anyone over the age 55, or a group that has a member over 55, is welcome to come audition on Aug. 16 and 17.

The performance is scheduled for Sept. 24 at 3 p.m. at the Hutchins Street Square Performing Arts Theatre.

Directing this year’s show is Yvonne.

This is the seventh show she has directed and her second Senior Follies.

The Circle Theatre Assemble Company will perform “The Secret Garden” Oct. 27-29.

Auditions are scheduled for Sept. 27 and 28 from 6-9 p.m. in the performing arts theatre at Hutchins Street Square.

Expect a champagne opening gala at the opening night performance, Yvonne said.

Directing the play is Ann Samuelson, a long-standing member of the theatre committee for the Lodi Arts Commission.

Flugelhornist Dmitri Matheny will perform a jazz musical reader’s performance of the famous Charlie Brown Christmas.

This show is a “must-see” for kids and adults alike, Yvonne said.

The date and time for this show will be determined.

Yvonne said that last year’s Christmas performance, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” was a huge success with more than 1,600 school-age children in attendance throughout its run.

She expects Matheny’s talent and Charlie Brown’s popularity to make this year’s production a big hit as well.
