Golfers get thirsty — it’s a known fact.

All that walking and swinging away can cause one’s throat to become quite parched. Even those golfers who choose to cruise — the men and women who hop behind the golf cart’s steering wheel and drive from drive to putt — know that golfing can simply induce the desire to imbibe.

So, following a round of nine or 18 holes, of searching for a little white ball, who wants to get in their car and go searching for a little pub, bar or restaurant?

Some intrepid entrepreneur decided years ago that a “Club House” is just the link needed to enhance the pleasure of the sport. Why not just add the bar right there at the end of the course?

Area golf courses abound, all with their own unique angles on the course, as well as uniqueness in clubhouse design and facilities. Indeed, golfing at different courses around the nation is not like dining at Denny’s. In fact, it is intentionally the opposite. Instead of trying to make them all feel the same, they all have their own distinct appeal.

Post-golf drinks are offered at nearly all of the area golf courses listed in this Visitors Guide.

For a drink on the more luxurious side, a pre- or post-golf sip at the Woodbridge Golf and Country Club, just minutes from Lodi, is your ticket.

As you may know, golf isn’t exactly the cheapest hobby around. But for your money, if you prefer a more casual and relaxed setting, the beer is cold and served in signature mugs by friendly staffers at the Lockeford Springs Golf Course.

There are 19 golf courses listed online and in the News- Sentinel’s Visitors Guide as “area” golf courses. This means you can play anywhere from Lodi and Woodbridge, to Stockton and Sacramento.

Drinks are available at most, but not all, of the courses. Some listed are private courses, and others serve only beer, not mixed drinks. So, if you prefer to mix a specific liquid with your golf outing, remember to check the list here in the Visitors Guide and give the course a call before you head out.

We’d hate to hear of our visitors to the Lodi area ending up disappointed because they were denied their favorite elixir.
