Love fun, music, festivals? Find them in Lodi
By Deanne Lowenstein Lodi may not be known for its grand concerts or huge events, but that doesn’t mean the local area is lacking in that department. There are a variety of local hot spots that offer live music and entertainment, plus numerous festivals throughout the year. One familiar venue is getting a whole new look. The downtown building that once housed the nightclub Legends, will now become Movie City. Much of the popular Hollywood memorabilia that was featured in the previous business will remain in Movie City. Items like Leonard Nimoy’s “Star Trek” uniform and a karate suit used by Elvis Presley will watch over visitors while they eat. Owner John DeNigris describes Movie City as “a great American restaurant” that will serve familiar meals like ribs, steak sandwiches and burgers. One special feature is the antique bronze revolving door recovered from a demolished Chicago building. Movie City is located at 27 W. Elm St., and is expected to hold its grand opening in May 2003.
