Lodi: The place to breakout — outdoors that is

A visit to Lodi will leave you longing to breakout — outdoors that is.

No trip is complete without time spent at the city’s crown jewel, Lodi Lake.

Located off Turner Road, the 28-acre lake, fed by the Mokelumne River that snakes down from the Sierras down into The Delta, is a rarity in that it resides within city limits.

Boating is one of the popular outdoor recreation pursuits.

The lake is surrounded by the Nature Area and its 58 acres of pristine beauty, creating a balance between adrenaline and leisure seekers.

Skiing. Boating. Fishing. Canoeing. Swimming. River tours. Wildlife watching.

If that doesn’t fulfill your outdoors appetite, there’s a boundless supply of activities all within about a hour’s drive of Lodi.

There’s the Delta, with more than 1,000 miles of waterways and home to some of the best water-skiing, windsurfing and fishing in the country.

And the Mother Lode’s multitude of reservoirs nestled among rustic rolling hills that cry out to hikers, fishers and boaters. Hidden underneath those hills are some of the most elaborate cavern systems in the world.

The Central Valley’s rivers roar down from the Sierra producing rushing rapids for the rabid outdoors person and settle into more serene settings that can be enjoyed aboard a cruise.

Before the water melts in the springtime, the Eastern Sierras are home to superb ski conditions.

For the more mellow outdoors person, local preserves boast some of the best wildlife viewing in the country.

For the outrageous, there’s skydiving. In summation, there’s something for all.
