Valley provides lots of recreation

Looking for some fun in California’s Central Valley?

Several recreational activities — ranging from miniature golf and ice skating to bumper cars, batting cages and lasertag — can be found in and around Lodi.

Amusement Places

Funderwoods — 11793 N. Micke Grove Road. 369-5437. Seven days a week, 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Rides are $1 each or you can buy an all-day pass for $9 Friday, and $12 Saturday and Sunday.

Five T’s Family Billiards and Arcade — 218B S. Lincoln Way, Galt. 744-8449.

Features six pool tables, 24 arcade games, air hockey, foosball and pinball. Pool tables are $6 an hour, games are 75 cents.

Hours are 7 to 8:15 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 3:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday; 3:30 to 11 p.m. on Sunday.

Skating Rinks

Cal Skate — 512 N. Cherokee Lane. 334-0332. Sessions: Tuesday 6:30 to 9 p.m. fellowship night, $3.50. Wednesday 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., $2.50. Thursday 6:30 to 9 p.m. family night, $3. Ice skating

Oak Park Ice Arena — 3545 Alvarado St., Stockton. 937-7433. Public skate sessions available every day. Admission is $4.50. Kids 3 and under get in free.

Skate rentals are $2 for figure skates and $4 for hockey skates. Hockey for ages 6 and up and birthday parties for any age can be arranged during weekend public sessions.

Competitive freestyle session also available.

Batting Cages

All-Star Batter’s Box — 681 W. Grider Way, Stockton. 957-8462. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Twenty pitches for $1.50

Mojica’s Indoor Batting Cages — 125 E. Elm St., Lodi. 368-1827. Hours are 2:30 to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, January to August. Twenty pitches for $1. Cages are closed Sunday between August and January.

Water Slides

Galt Aquatic Center — 660 Chabolla Ave., Galt 744-9544.

Hours for the two water slides are 3 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with the competition pool open from 6 to 9 p.m. The water slides are open 3 to 6:30 p.m. Friday.

On Saturday, both pools are open 1 to 7 p.m., Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m. with Family Swim from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Daily admissions are $1 for toddlers, $2 for children ages 5-12, $2.25 for ages 13-17, $2.50 ages 18-59, and $1 for seniors.

Golfland — 7850 West Lane, Stockton. 477-2411.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; Friday 11 a.m. to midnight; Saturday 10 a.m. to midnight and Sunday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Costs for miniature golf are $5 for ages 11 and under, and $6 for 12 and older. The waterslides and bumper boats are open noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Cost for bumper boats is $2.50 a ride. Costs for waterslides is $5 for a 10-ride pass, $7.50 for a 20-ride pass, $10 for a three-hour pass that includes either one round of miniature golf or one bumper-boat ride, or $14 for an all-day pass.

Monday is family night after 5 p.m. Each family member can play miniature golf for $3.50.

Oakwood Lake Resort — Between Interstate 5 and Highway 99 in Manteca, 874 E. Woodward.

Phone is 239-9566 or 239-2500. There are more than 30 waterslides, plus a children’s pool, race track and bungee-jump tower. A 75-acre lake adjoins the campground. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 2 to mid-June, and the day after Labor Day through Sept. 30. Oakwood is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. mid-June to Labor Day during the week and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekends. An all-day pass is $22 for kids over 4 feet tall and $15 for children between 3 feet 6 inches and 4 feet tall. Kids under 3 feet 6 inches get in free.

Waterworld USA — At Cal Expo in Sacramento, 1600 Exposition Blvd. Phone: (916) 924-0556 or (916) 924-3747. Ten speed rides, river tube ride, wave pool, children’s wading pool. Open daily at 10:30 a.m., Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Admission is $19.99 for adults, $14.99 for youths under 4 feet tall, free for children age 3 and under.

Laser Games

Laserforce — 6031 Fair Oaks Blvd., Carmichael. Phone: (916) 972-7395.

Lasertag game is $6 for members and $7 for others. Hours are 3 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 3 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday; 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday; 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday.

Laserforce opens at noon during midweek in the summer.
