Mary, played by Kate Cook, 10, feeds hay from the manger to a donkey that was on loan during Zion Reformed Church’s drive-through Nativity on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014. Joseph, played by Nicholas Bernett, 16, and the shepherd boy, played by Will Cook, 8, wait to greet cars in a re-creation of the stable where Jesus was born. Zion Reformed Church in Lodi held its eighth annual Christmas Celebration on Dec. 13 and 14. The drive-through live Nativity at the Ham Lane church aims “to put Christ back in Christmas.” Each of several displays highlights Christmas history and religious symbols associated with the holiday. The origins and meanings are explained in a pamphlet for walkers, and on an audio CD for drivers. For more information or to hear the audio recording, visit www.zionreformedchurch.org.
