If comments by board members are any indication, it appears that student athletes in Lodi Unified School District may only have to participate in two afterschool sports per year in order to have their second year of physical education waived as a graduation requirement.

Catherine Brown lives in a Lodi apartment, and is dedicated to water conservation.
In recent years, she has purchased a low-flow toilet and a front-loading washing machine to reduce her water use. She keeps an eye out for neighboring properties who run too much water, or have leaky sprinkler heads.
But living in an apartment means sharing a water main with dozens of neighbors. The requirement to install water meters means sharing costs with those same neighbors.

Who can blame these Hawks for refusing to go home? Their playoff debut has been way too much fun. And it’s not about to stop, either. After overcoming foul trouble, outmuscling a taller opponent and dodging a crushing dagger on Wednesday night, the Liberty Ranch Hawks varsity boys basketball team is still soaring.
Next destination: Sleep Train Arena.
The No. 4 Hawks stunned top-seeded Colfax 64-59 in a thrilling overtime classic at Tokay High School, and can now — against all odds — cap their first-ever postseason appearance with a section title.
