How many high schools can boast that its entire graduating class will go to college, a vocational school or the military after commencement?

Nearly unheard of, Warrior Flight 2013 actually took off early Thursday from Erv Hatzenbuhler Field as Galt High School’s 171 graduates in red gowns and mortar boards filed into the stadium and through an eight foot-tall aluminum star before the 7:30 p.m. departure time.

When Mariah Franco becomes part of something, she isn't one to sit on the sidelines. When it came to local government, the Galt High School Class of 2013 valedictorian became then-Mayor Barbara Payne's intern.

Faith Lemire-Baeten has met a lot of students through her tutoring side-business. She’s worked with many of them for years.

Sierra MacLeod recently learned she is one of only 10 students in Pacific Gas and Electric Company’s Northern and Central California service area to receive a $30,000 college scholarship. There were more than 8,000 applicants.

Although they lost two of their own this school year, the message of Wednesday’s Liberty Ranch High School graduation was to live.
