The Lodi Police Department conducted a rail safety operation in conjunction with Union Pacific's Operation Lifesaver on Tuesday as part of Lodi Police Department's commitment to public safety.
The operation was conducted along the railroad tracks within Lodi from roughly 1 to 3 p.m.
According to a press release from the Lodi Police Department, a total of seven Lodi police officers and four Union Pacific officers participated in the event. Officers worked in patrol cars, on bicycles and motorcycles during the enforcement stopping violators for crimes pertaining to rail safety.

Stating that its vote must be based on the current winery ordinance — and not possible revisions — the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors voted 4-1 Tuesday to allow Kapiniaris Vineyards to construct a winery on Davis Road, just south of Turner Road.
