Micke Grove Zoo has been transformed into a holiday wonderland for all ages. Bring the entire family and enjoy twinkling lights, games, crafts, wagon rides and refreshments. Charges have yet to be filed by the Alameda County District Attorney's Office against Galt resident Megan Emslander, 20, in an August vehicle accident that killed her sister. She was arrested shortly after the accident after police suspected her of driving under the influence, but released.

U.S. Air Force Airman Edward Martin graduated from boot camp on April 20. He is currently training at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi. After a leave in June, he will continue his training in Fairfield at Travis Air Force Base. His title will be human resources.

The United States Air Force Band of the Golden West performs "A
Christmas Festival" to a capacity crowd during a free concert in
the Charlene Powers Lange Theatre at Hutchins Street Square on
Monday. The 40-piece ensemble from Travis Air Force Base played a
collection of holiday songs, including Christmas carols, Chanukah
songs and a musical performance along with a reading of The Polar
Express children's book. The band was also joined by northern
California based singers, the Honeybee Trio. Touring California,
Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Nevada, the United States Air Force
Band of the Golden West plays a variety of music from orchestral
transcriptions to jazz and pop arrangements.

Steve Bojorques has two significant passions — his American
Indian heritage and his support for the military.
Bojorques, 44, will be installed tonight as commander of Lodi’s
American Legion post. It is believed he will be the first Native
American commander in Lodi history.
“It is history in the making,” he said.
But equally important to Bojorques is retaining the military and
American Legion traditions. That requires getting younger veterans
— from the Vietnam War through the Iraq and Afghan wars — into the

Air Force Airman Anthony Martin has recently graduated from boot
camp training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. He is
stationed at Kessler Air Force Base in Mississippi, where he is
being trained in human resources and will graduate on June 20.
Following a short break, he will continue his training at Travis
Air Force Base in Fairfield.

The year was 1996 and several car guys and I were hanging out in
a Vacaville garage. The Garage belonged to a good friend and fellow
car guy by the name of Rick. Rick had an old eighty-eight Honda
CRX. The guys and I were attempting to shoehorn an Acura Integra
engine in the tiny CRX. This is not an easy task as the Integra
engine is much larger than the original Honda power plant. We were
doing this engine swap back before it was common. In a way we were
pioneers or madmen. It goes without saying that a job like this is
tough and takes a lot of ingenuity and well...cussing.

Phyllis Bigelow is 90 years old, but she can dance up a storm.
She had a stroke in November that hinders her speech slightly, but
when you've been dancing for 80 years, the steps come
subconsciously. It sure seemed that way.

of this, she is eligible to serve in the American Legion Auxiliary.
With a laugh, she said the girls conned her into joining 14 years
ago. Today, she serves as the Lodi branch's president and enjoys
the giving and sharing between the ladies.
