Many people all over the world have been harassed in one way or another because of their religion, race or color of their skin. If this makes you feel bad for those people, imagine what you would feel like if it was someone closer to you, like a family member.

If someone I knew, or someone in my family, was a victim of a hate crime, I would, like, die. I detest hate crimes because I think it is stupid for people to do mean things just because someone has different colored skin or doesn’t go to the same church.

Throughout high school, Rachel Cacho has worked hard to be the best she can be. Striving to be better than her older brother is what motivated her, she said. With a grade-point average of more than 4.0, Cacho will graduate as the top student of her class at Lodi Academy.
