Well, I'm back after a hectic two months. April was, of course, largely taken up with plans for my 90th birthday (these days, 90 is nothing of an age) and arrangements to celebrate with various groups of friends here and there, so as many people could be included as possible. If I had invited all the people I wanted to the actual party, we would have to have rented the Grape Pavilion! Not possible, unfortunately.

accepting registrations on Nov. 14 for the 2012-13 school year.
Registration forms can be picked up at any school office or

We appear to be in the midst of a minor movie-going crisis.
We've just witnessed the most anemic box office weekend in five
years, and with Nicolas Cage's "Bangkok Dangerous" as the only new
major release, who can be surprised? I don't know if this is an
early effect of the writers' strike (I didn't expect that to come
into play until next year), but whatever the reason, I'm not having
any part of it.
