It’s September, so as far as I’m concerned we are now in the midst of the holiday season. (Yes, I start celebrating a tad earlier than most, and I’m having to resist the urge to bust out the Christmas music before November.) For me, the first leg of this four-month celebration involves the viewing of as many horror movies as humanly possible — a valid goal year-round, to be sure, but particularly pertinent as we approach Halloween.

In the hours leading up to Target's midnight opening, the
atmosphere was like a late-night blockbuster movie premiere.
Shoppers bundled up in coats, scarves and blankets, waiting it out
with friends and family in hopes of snagging some major deals. More
than a few people brought snacks, coffee and folding chairs to pass
the cold hours more comfortably. Some tipped over shopping carts
for a haphazard perch off of the icy concrete.

$1,296,575 during the campaign filing period that ended Oct. 27.
Huber’s totals overshadowed her opponent, former Lodi mayor Jack
