The Tri-City Athletic League fielded some tough boys basketball
teams this year in league champion McNair and Division III
Sac-Joaquin Section champion St. Mary’s.

It wasn’t the first shots that hurt the Tigers on Wednesday
night, it was the easy putbacks that did the real damage. The West
High boys basketball team hammered the offensive boards and
capitalized on second-chance points to defeat Tokay 47-35 in
Tri-City Athletic League action at The Jungle.

The St. Mary’s Rams came with the pressure on Friday night.
Using a smothering, mistaking-making press, the St. Mary’s boys
basketball team jumped out to a 24-4 lead at halftime against the
Tokay Tigers and came away with a 40-27 victory at The Jungle.

At one point late in the second quarter, Friday night's showdown
between the Tokay High and Stagg boys basketball teams was tied at
19-all. Then it was Tiger time. Tokay went on a 20-0 run and Stagg
didn't make one field goal during a 13-minute stretch that spanned
midway into the fourth quarter as the Tigers rolled to a 52-28
Tri-City Athletic League victory at The Jungle.

see a rivalry. What they got was a defensive showdown as the Lodi
boys basketball team rebounded and fought its way to a 43-36
non-league victory over cross-town rival Tokay on Friday night.
