Social hosts in Galt who provide a location where minors can drink alcohol or who do not take steps to prevent their consumption of alcohol will have to reimburse police and fire-related costs under an ordinance recently approved by the Galt City Council. It will be formally adopted Tuesday.
Mayor Barbara Payne, who worked with the Galt Youth Alcohol Abuse Prevention Coalition to bring the ordinance before the council, said she hopes there will be a cultural shift regarding underage drinking and that adults will consider what the infraction can mean to young lives.

A Sacramento County Superior Court judge struck down a legal
challenge of the Galt Walmart, moving the project one step closer
to construction. Judge Timothy Frawley ruled last Wednesday that
the project could move forward with the construction process, but
the city needs to revisit one aspect of the project's
state-mandated environmental reports.

the Galt Market entrance and has a front-row seat to watch people
asking for money. Most of the solicitors belong to or have set up
nonprofit organizations, Sealy said. She is frustrated that they
are allowed to block the gate and harrass customers.
