A box truck crashed into several trees and two power poles on Liberty Road in the wee hours Friday morning. A cow was killed in the crash, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The two men shot and killed in Acampo on Friday night have been
identified as a father and son.
The victims were Jonathan Meagher, 48, and his father, William
Robert Meagher, 84, according to Deputy Les Garcia with the San
Joaquin County Sheriff's Department.
Deputies have arrested Howard Daniel Smith in connection with
the killings. Police encountered Smith, 40, in a blue Ford Ranger
pickup truck when they responded to the shooting.

The San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office has named Howard D.
Smith, 40, as the suspect they believe shot and killed two people
and wounded a third individual on Friday afternoon.
Smith was arrested shortly after the vehicle he was driving
collided with another vehicle on southbound Highway 99 at Harney
Lane, according to sheriff's Deputy Dave Konecny.
Smith, whose residence was not disclosed, was booked into San
Joaquin County Jail in French Camp on suspicion of two counts of
homicide, one count of attempted murder and burglary.

Jeanne Pearson, who made the two-mile drive to her final meeting
as a trustee on Oak View Union School District board on Nov. 18,
will be recognized later this month for her 29 years of service to
the students of Acampo.
