Photographer’s note: Being a photojournalist can be a risky business. Standing on sidelines of football games. Sitting under the hoop during a basketball game. It is easy to be in harm’s way while covering sporting events. In this case, I was lying on an air-filled target as skydivers from Qatar attempted to touch down in the center of it. There were a few close calls, but luckily I escaped without being kicked in the face or landed on.

It was the stunt heard ’round the world: Last Wednesday, as Google co-founder Sergey Brin prepared to promote his latest pet project, a team of Lodi-based skydivers leapt from a zeppelin hovering over San Francisco’s Moscone Center, landed on the roof and hand-delivered to Brin a pair of Google’s “Project Glass” computing glasses — all while connected in real-time to the Internet so those below could see the action from the divers’ perspective.

For a moment, the men are nothing more than four or five tiny specks in the sky, framed by red and white parachutes. You have to hold your hand against your eyes to shield the sun from your view; otherwise you could miss the parachuters entirely.
