Last summer, the Lodi Police Department conducted a Child Safety Seat Inspection. Out of 15 car seats checked, all were installed incorrectly. One child arrived without a restraint, and two were returned to convertible seats from their boosters.

It will be three grueling days this week as the San Joaquin
County Board of Supervisors decides what services to cut and what
to save for the 2011-12 fiscal year, which begins July 1.
After a morning session on other county issues Tuesday morning,
the Board of Supervisors will conduct hearings — department by
department — beginning Tuesday and continuing all day Wednesday and
at least Thursday morning.
One of the major issues facing the board will be whether to
continue the Sheriff's Community Car, a very popular program that
residents in Woodbridge, Thornton, Lockeford and Linden say make
them feel safer. The Community Car has also been added to east
Stockton and the Country Club area of Stockton.

The state of California needs to address its overcrowded
prisons. The U.S. Supreme Court recently decided the state must
release more than 30,000 inmates within two years.
To help meet this demand, California Gov. Jerry Brown endorsed a
plan to thin the state’s prison population through realignment,
compassionate release and alternatives to traditional methods of
San Joaquin County Sheriff Steve Moore talked about some of the
issues related to the plan with the News-Sentinel on Tuesday
