(NAPSI)—Tax credits for geothermal heat pumps are a hot item. According to WaterFurnace, a leading manufacturer of geothermal systems, in many cases, homeowners qualify for a federal tax credit for installing their products. Some homeowners may also qualify for additional utility and state rebates, which can make installing such systems even more affordable.

New state regulations will give Lodi wiggle room in meeting strict renewable energy standards by 2020 without major rate increases, according to city officials who briefed Lodi City Council members on the issue Tuesday.

Pacific Gas and Electric Company is considering building a 300-megawatt power plant in Lodi that could store energy in the form of compressed air and release it during peak use hours. It would be the third of its kind in the world, if the current study finds Lodi a feasible location.
