met for the annual Business of the Year Award.

Accomplishment: Lodi High School junior
basketball player Anthony Gonsalves was dialed in from long range
last week, hitting 15 3-pointers in the Cartwright Classic in Elk
Grove to help the Flames go 2-1 in the tournament.

Plans are underway for the next dinner meeting of the Lodi
Business and Professional Women’s Club, which will be held the
first Tuesday in December instead of the regular meeting in
November. This will be a special Christmas dinner party and a fun
evening is planned for the members and their guests.

Accomplishment: Since the Lodi Flames have
opened San Joaquin Athletic Association water polo play, the cage
has opened up wider and wider for junior Joe VanderLans. His hat
trick in last Tuesday's 23-8 league-opening win over Tracy was
impressive enough — but then he dwarfed that performance two days
later, racking up eight goals just to help defeat Lincoln. (No,
that total wasn't a typo.)

The Lodi Business and Professional Women’s Club will be holding
its dinner meeting on Tuesday at Pietro’s Italian Restaurant, 317
E. Kettleman Lane. Time for networking is at 6 p.m. with dinner
following at 6:30 p.m. Merry Donahue, president, will be conducting
the meeting.

Past president and long-time member Pat Drouin has been selected
as the 2011 AAUW funds fellowship named gift honoree by Lodi
American Association of University Women for her many contributions
to the group’s programs and goals. This is the second time she has
been selected for this award, having previously received it in
1988.
