Patricia Haggard didn’t think her dogs would return home. They’d been abandoned, she said, by a San Joaquin County Sheriff’s deputy in a remote field in scorching heat. But a week later, both dogs are safe and reunited with their family.

A Woodbridge woman who contends that a San Joaquin County Sheriff’s deputy dumped her two dogs in a remote field says that she’s been reunited with one of the dogs — her three-legged pit bull.
Bella, a German shepherd, has gone missing. Patricia Haggard of Woodbridge says that a San Joaquin County Sheriff’s deputy found Bella and Haggard’s other dog, Nika, a three-legged pit bull mix, but abandoned them in a remote field after two shelters turned them away on Sunday, June 30, 2013. Now she is searching for Bella and Nika, while the Sheriff’s office is investigating the incident.
