Ten months after giving birth,
Paula Radcliffe did it again Sunday:
She won the New York City
Marathon in 2 hours, 23 minutes, nine seconds. In other words,
she ran 26.2 miles at an average pace of 5:27 per mile. Yes, I
think that's insane.

I spent Christmas in New York - once my home for nearly 20 years
- and survived. Despite heightened security alerts, overcrowded
airports, delayed flights and lost luggage, I've returned to Lodi
to report on the good, the bad and the ugly about Manhattan.

I'm on vacation in what is (today) sunny New York. There was
some excitement on the trip; my flight made it through fine, but
between a
deadly steampipe explosion and a
tornado touchdown, the plane with my luggage was delayed. Why
they couldn't put my luggage on the plane I was on, I don't
know.

Megan Bedford (right) and fellow students Katy Carvel (left) and Clara Kassab (center) hunker down with the latest in Hurricane Sandy survival gear: hiker headlamps and battery-powered laptop computers. If you can see and know what's going on, you can figure out rest, I suppose.

From left to right are Mason and Roxanne Quilty of New Hope Pennsylvania, Adrienne (standing) and Annie Yacopetti. Roxanne is Adrienne's roommate. Her brother Mason decided to get out of the dorms at NYU and be close to his sister.
