We are having a very busy summer at the McFarland Ranch, 8899 Orr Road, Galt. We have many members who, without their dedication to the Galt Historical Society, would not have accomplished many projects.

Children and adults alike played with their kites in the backdrop of the McFarland Living History Ranch on Sunday. More than 200 people showed up to the fifth annual kite-flying day, sponsored by the Galt Area Historical Society.
Nancy Stigelmayer displayed several photos and clippings about Galt’s history during the 20-year anniversary celebration at the museum, located on Oak Street in Galt, on Sunday, June 12, 2011. A few years ago, she visited a different Galt, this one in Missouri. Pictured is the design of a T-shirt she purchased there. Besides asking the obvious question, the T-shirt from Missouri reads, “Conveniently located in the middle of nowhere.”

The Galt Area Historical Society celebrated the 20th anniversary
of the Rae House Museum, a restored 1868 Victorian house that
allows visitors to view photos and furnishings that defined

A long pink ribbon was cut by Gracie Malson, granddaughter of
Tom and Grace Malson. Young Gracie, then 13, cut the ribbon
dedicating the Rae House when it opened in 1991. She was called
back to cut the ribbon on the 20th anniversary celebration as
