It’s been a long and trying year since I last touched bases with you, and in that time I have not been able to see nearly as many new releases as usual. Life has a way of interfering, and since changing career paths early last year, I’ve had difficulty finding adequate time to devote to cinematic pursuits.

Compared to other cities in San Joaquin County, Lodi has a drinking and driving problem. Or does it? While Stockton’s population is more than twice the size of Lodi’s, both cities have arrested nearly the same number of drunk drivers since 2011.

Thanks to public demand and cooperative weather, the Downtown
Lodi Farmers Market will stretch through the end of September. The
board of directors of the Downtown Lodi Business Partnership voted
to unanimously approve adding five more sessions to the popular
summer market at a meeting Monday morning.
Michael Warren, owner of Crush Kitchen + Bar in Lodi, grows
tomatoes and other produce at his personal garden that he uses in

Two restaurateurs will join the Downtown Lodi Business
Partnership’s board of directors in 2011. Michael Warren, of Crush
Kitchen + Bar, and Greg Lewis, of The Dancing Fox Winery &
Bakery, were elected by Downtown business owners to the nonprofit
board that promotes local merchants Monday morning. Warren will
serve a three-year term and Lewis will serve for two years. Three
incumbent directors, Erin Smith, Sam Rehmke and Nancy Byer-Hauan,
were also re-elected to the board.
