more than $22,000 was raised to help the Fluty family pay for Fluty
to receive cranial reconstruction surgery and a surgery to separate
his fingers and toes. Fluty was diagnosed with Apert syndrome when
he was born.

Mason Fluty, with his big grin and blue eyes, lasted as long as
he could at his fundraiser dinner at the Herald Barn on Saturday,
but by 7 p.m., the 7-month-old was tuckered out.
Mason Fluty, a 6-month-old baby with Apert syndrome, sucks on
his thumb on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012. Apert syndrome is a rare
chromosomal disorder that causes the bones of the skull to fuse
together early. It can also cause fingers and toes to become webbed
or fused together.
