Joe Petersen is leaving the North San Joaquin Water Conservation District board, and Tom Flinn, former county public works director, was appointed Thursday night to replace him.
Director Joe Valente took on the position of board president.
Petersen said he has done what he wanted to with the district. It is now politically stable and in the black financially, goals Petersen outlined at the beginning of his term two years ago, he said.

Trustee Mark Beck was chosen by his peers to serve as president of the Galt Joint Union High School District Board of Trustees for 2013. Outgoing president Art Oelsner was voted to become clerk, and will lead the monthly meetings when Beck is unavailable.

Bryan Pilkington may not be chairman of the North San Joaquin
Water Conservation District much longer.
After missing a second consecutive district meeting without
notifying directors he would be absent, the remaining four
directors voted 3-1 on Wednesday evening to consider appointing a
new chairman at the next meeting. Director Marden Wilbur voted
against the motion.

The North San Joaquin Water Conservation District needs more
time to name its new watermaster and legal representation. Several
law firms were interviewed during a two-hour closed session
Tuesday, but the district has not finalized which firm will
represent it in the future, said director Mark Beck.
