Hello, my name is Sgt. 1st Class Jon Cox. I am stationed in
Baumholder, Germany with the 170th Infantry Brigade Combat Team 3-4

have a 63-man infantry detachment assigned to me, and received
numerous boxes from Lodi's Support Our Troops — Holiday Cheer Box
Drive. I distributed these care packages out to my soldiers and
they were extremely appreciative of them. We are stationed kind of
in a remote location, so mail, etc., takes a long time to get

The event was a sell-out and many businesses from around the state contributed items for the raffle and silent auction, said event coordinator Marcia Dempsey. "It's unbelievable how generous everyone has been," she said. The Holiday Cheer Drive aims to send 1,500 care packages filled with candy, playing cards and books to American soldiers overseas.

I can’t believe that August is at an end and September is
beginning, but the squirrels and the trees believe it. The peanuts
in the feeder are diminishing rapidly, and the leaves on the
Chinese pistache are turning color. Acorns from the pin oak in back
rat-a-tat-tat on the back porch overhang and add to the peanut
shells near the feeder. Trees and squirrels can be messy!
