Lodi Unified School District will soon be collecting less money
from developers to pay for future schools. The figures are related
“We lose ADA and money there, and on top of it, we lose this
money,” board president George Neely said, regarding per-pupil
funding from the state.
School districts are allowed to levy a fee on all new home
construction for the purpose of providing funding for school
facilities, but that money has slowed in recent years. So have the
number of students attending Lodi Unified schools.

With hopes of recouping more than half a million dollars in lost
books annually, Lodi Unified School District is exploring the
possibility of sending parents of students who do not return
library books or textbooks to a collections agency.
Lisa Kotowski, who oversees the district's curriculum
department, said administrators are investigating the idea brought
forward during budget committee discussions, but they need to
determine if it is legal and the appropriate action to take. No
decisions have been made.

Under a new state requirement, all eighth-graders will be
