Damian Gonzalez has an ultimate, and lofty, vision for the Lodi Cyclefest’s Vintner’s Cup: “I want it to travel the world first class wherever it goes,” the Cyclefest organizer said about the trophy given to winemakers who win the event’s beach cruiser race. “We want winemakers from all over to come out and jump on airplanes and fly to this event.”

Thanksgiving Day marked the movie classic "Casablanca's" 70th anniversary. The film is high on critics and fans list of favorites. "Casablanca's" dialogue includes the most heavily quoted movie lines of all time; example: "We'll always have Paris." The theme song, "As Time Goes By," has also endured.

It started as a hum from around the corner. The clicking of changing gears and buzzing bike chains grew louder and louder until the first of a pack of determined cyclists made the turn and bolted along the School Street straight-away. The crowd hollered, cheered and rang cowbells to show their support for the athletes who moved at up to 40 miles per hour over the cobblestones of Downtown.

The tables were set with white linens, wine glasses and
silverware for five courses. The band, the San Francisco-based
Grupo Buongiorno, started the evening with signature flamenco,
bossa nova and samba. And about 240 men and women, dressed in bow
ties and evening dresses, filled Hutchins Street Square for one of
Lodi’s biggest art, wine and food fundraisers.
