On May 6, Willie Mays celebrated his 81st birthday. During those 1950s years, the baseball world couldn't resolve the debate about who was New York's best center fielder, Mickey, Willie or the Duke. As sports writer Red Smith said: "Duke Snider, Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays. You could get a fat lip in any saloon by starting an argument as to which was best. One point was beyond argument, though. Willie was by all odds the most exciting."

When he was sitting in a hospital bed last spring, all Garrett
Baffoni wanted to do was play golf.
Instead, his junior year as Lodi High’s No. 1 golfer was over. A
snowboarding accident broke Baffoni’s back in three different
places. He luckily avoided any type of spinal cord damage, but the
jump-gone-wrong made him bed ridden for months.
He was forced to have surgery, wear a very-limiting torso brace
and even had to finish the semester through independent study
because he couldn’t go to school.
Now, nearly a year later, he is back on the course and ready to
lead the Flames. However, this season Baffoni has a new outlook on

On Saturday, the Lodi High wrestling team will be out to defend
its San Joaquin Athletic Association crown, but the Flames will
need help if they want to repeat as SJAA champs.

I spent much of 2010 bemoaning the sad state of Hollywood
studio filmmaking. But looking over a roster of the year’s most
worthwhile releases, it struck me that it might not have been such
a bad year after all. If you’re simply looking at the number of
good films released, then 2010 was certainly not one for the books
— but if you focus on the quality of the very best releases, few as
they may have been, things start to look a bit different.

cooked hot dogs or sausages eaten beside a pool of water. Though
Wild Doggz owner Richard Stellmacher feels that hot dogs are a
year-round food, most would agree hot dogs just taste different
when you're at a Fourth of July picnic or camping in the woods.
