When Janine Jacinto started a running club at Heritage
Elementary School, it was just a way to share her passion for
running with her students, who might not have the opportunity to
participate in more expensive team sports.

Everyone from hula dancers to pixies to Disney's Mr. Incredible
ran, walked and skipped around Lodi Lake on Saturday morning in an
effort to raise money for high school athletic departments.

Knowing it could be their last chance at running in the most
famous marathon in the world, four local runners made the most of
it on Monday as Lodi’s Sarah Takahashi, Janine Jacinto and Sally
Majidian, along with Joe Barber of Woodbridge, finished the Boston

Four runners will be representing the Lodi area on Monday in the
115th Annual Boston Marathon. Two, Joe Barber and Janine Jacinto,
are veterans to the famous race. Two, Sally Majidian and Sarah
Takahashi, are first-timers.
All four are cherishing the opportunity to run the 26.2 miles in
one of the country's biggest and most popular races because they
know it could be their last chance to do it. Due to changes in the
registration process starting with the 2012 race, runners will have
to have faster qualifying times to be eligible for the race.

Sunday's California International Marathon from Folsom to the State
Capitol in Sacramento, clocking a time of 3 hours, 21 minutes and

donated to high school running programs around the state. This
year, the event decided to help out a younger program.

AUBURN - Despite battling the flu, dodging poison oak and
climbing never-ending hills on uneven trails, three local residents
made it across the finish line of the American River 50-mile
