Gang-related violence has exploded in Lodi since mid-May.
But the shootings, stabbings, brandishings and assaults have not
been randomly spread throughout town.
Gang-related incidents aren't cropping up on Lodi's west side,
its northern edge or its southern fringe.
The bloodshed has been concentrated in one section of Lodi, an
older part of town once home to a host of German families, now
inhabited largely by new immigrants. It is a 50-block area,
roughly, of vintage bungalows, ramshackle alleys and front doors
affixed with security screens. It is home to many younger families,
couples, merchants — and it is now a battleground for the Norteños

Amanda Marie Boling, 30, was arrested Sunday for allegedly
embezzling more than $130,000 from a local dentist. Boling worked
for Kevin Fleming, a dentist with a practice on South Fairmont
Street, for 12 years as his office manager and bookkeeper.

For the first time, a Lodi citizen was honored for wearing her
seatbelt at the Lodi Police Department’s yearly awards.
Lodi resident Marcella Wheat was honored along with seven
officers, staff members and volunteers. Cpl. Sierra Brucia was also
promoted to the sergeant position, and his four-year-old son Kellen
pinned the badge on his uniform.

The campus of Lodi High School is silent on a clear March day,
the quad eerily empty.
Suddenly, a roaring gunshot shatters the stillness.
A SWAT team bursts onto the quad from the school’s front
entrance as frightened students run out of the cafeteria,
screaming. A second gun shot thunders through the air, followed by
a third soon afterward. As the SWAT team proceeds in formation
toward the cafeteria, a shooter leaps out from behind a tree 50
feet to the right, firing a gun at the officers.

arrest in 2009 on allegations of sexually abusing his wife. Michael
O'Riley is seeking unspecified damages in excess of $25,000 for
