Through some creative leaping and contortionism, we’d managed to find a relatively pain-free path this far, but we had about another 40 feet to go until we reached our target, and we had to wade through the knee-high thistles to get there.

Sywassink boots up his iPad and opens an app called LandView to see what tasks are on the list for this particular plot of land. This time of year, that might include mowing between each row, tying up vines or repairing wires.

In the operating room at Lodi Health, machines monitor the vital statistics of a patient laying on an operating table. Doctors make tiny incisions about four inches apart across the abdomen. Ports are put into the incisions, and then three robotic arms are attached. A camera is inserted into one port while an operating clamp and cutter are inserted into the other two.
