A morning attic fire went unnoticed by the woman inside the
house Monday, until a concerned citizen intervened.
Homeowner Silvia Isordia said she was taking her 6-year-old son
to school when a fire started in her attic in the 1000 block of
Pinot Noir Drive, and only her 22-year-old daughter was home.
Because the fire was in the attic, Isordia’s daughter did not know
there was a problem because the inside of the home was clear of
smoke. She became aware of the fire when a stranger knocked on the
door and informed her that flames and smoke were visible from the

openly send a message of appreciation to the city of Lodi’s Fire
Department, and specifically to Engineer Chris Allen and Fireman
Lodi firefighters put out a fire at a triplex on South Church Street, south of Kettleman Lane, on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010. Two of the three units received major damage to the attic and are not habitable, according to Lodi Fire Department Battalion Chief George Juelch. Two of the units received structural, smoke and heat damage, while the third unit received only smoke damage. Firefighters were at the scene from about 1:15 to 4 p.m. The American Red Cross gave vouchers for motel rooms and supplies to the residents.

A Lodi toddler was hit by a car Sunday evening on Hilborn
Street. Jorge Diaz was later arrested by Lodi police and charged
with driving on a suspended license and hit and run with an injury.
The toddler was taken to Lodi Memorial Hospital before being
transported to UC Davis Medical Center.

Lodi firefighters responded to a fire in a paint booth at the
Excel Storage Products building on Kelly Street Monday morning.
Lodi and Stockton Fire Department crews stand on Garfield Street on Tuesday evening after responding to a call to dispose of harzardous material. George Juelch, Lodi Fire Department batallion chief, was told by a ParC hazardous waste handler, who declined to be named, that the garbage can contained materials used to make methamphetamine. "That trash can has been there for about six months," said Rene Ortega, a resident on Cherry Street. Garfield and Cherry streets were closed for hours as emergency crews and ParC Specialty Contractors, a private company that the state subcontracts with, dealt with the container.
