NORTH HIGHLANDS, Calif. (AP) — A devastated father says he has no idea why gunmen targeted his Northern California home over the weekend, killing his 10-year-old daughter as she watched TV.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Authorities were searching for at least two gunmen who walked up to the door of a Northern California home and opened fire, killing a 10-year-old girl and injuring her parents.

When informed that the Justice Department had seized a trove of Associated Press phone records, a spokesman for House Speaker John Boehner said: "If the Obama administration is going after reporters' phone records, they better have a damned good explanation."

A man police believe is connected to a shooting in March at a Thornton gas station turned himself in to authorities Tuesday.

Two men accused of murder in the death of a suspected gang member will be arraigned today in San Joaquin County Superior Court. The two men and one other are suspected of killing Danilo Sandoval, 20, of Lodi in March at a Chevron gas station in Thornton.

Officers arrested five suspected Norteño gang members accused of threatening a man and brandishing a firearm, according to Lodi police.

Two men were arrested during the weekend on suspicion of shooting a man to death on March 15 at a Chevron gas station in Thornton, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office.

Maria didn’t see the fight along Maple Street in Lodi that left one man seriously injured with several gunshot wounds Thursday night. But her 5-year-old son did.

With nearly 60 years of law enforcement experience between them, friends and co-workers Sgt. Val Chaban and Lt. Steve Carillo retired together Tuesday, fulfilling a pact made last year.

On April 13, the Lodi Elks Lodge No. 1900 honored all the volunteers and officers who worked throughout the year on projects to enhance the local community. An appreciation dinner was provided by the Elks and hosted by Mike Dugan, outgoing Exalted Ruler. Award presentations were given and one member, Mary Avanti, stood out as the Citizen of the Year. The Lodi Police Department is holding a gun buyback event today in the hopes of reducing gang-related crime in Lodi.

The Lodi housing market is going gang busters, but don’t just take my word for it. Take a look at the facts. As you can see, the average price per square foot in zip codes 95242 and 95240 have increased 21.8 percent over the last 12 months. This took us from $111 in March 2012 to $135 in March 2013. Never before has affordability been so well married to low prices to create such a romantic market.

I suspect most people have heard of the Lodi Boys and Girls Club, but I wonder if they really know what goes on there.
