Lodi City Attorney Steve Schwabauer was injured in a bicycle
accident Sunday while participating in a fundraiser ride.
Paramedics received a call at 12:19 p.m. Sunday to respond to a
bicycle accident at Armstrong and Davis roads, said David Durand,
spokesperson for AMR.
Schwabauer told paramedic supervisor Steve Riley that he was in
a sprint to the finish line when the chain on his bike got lodged,
causing him to lose his balance and fall, Durand said. Schwabauer
grazed another rider, but the other rider did not suffer any
significant injuries, Durand said.

oxygen tank. And in September, she will start classes at the
University of California, Davis.

Update: I spoke to Hayley Greene Monday night at 6:30 and she
said Emma is now in surgery for the follow-up procedure. This is
required in about 15 percent of transplant cases, Hayley said, and
is to address "oozing" of blood that results from the surgery and
heavy use of blood-thinning medications.

Summer is winding down, and I find myself unburdened by the
bitter cynicism that typically plagues me this time of year. It’s a

a handful of films that are worth seeing (“The Smurfs,” of course,
