Lodi police arrested a woman on Saturday on suspicion of possessing and intending to sell methamphetamine.
Special enforcement officers who were looking for gang and drug activity recognized the driver of a nearby vehicle as a woman wanted by Lodi police, said Sgt. Val Chaban of the Lodi Police Department.
Officers pulled over Cynthia Tomasello, 52, around 7 p.m. along South Cherokee Street. She was wanted on felony charges of possessing a controlled substance and possessing controlled paraphernalia.

A 28-year-old man is in jail after allegedly being found with
guns and drugs at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton on
Wednesday. Hedayatullah Bayanzay, of Stockton, is in San Joaquin
County Jail after being arrested by Delta College Campus Police
shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Next to a carton of off-brand chocolate chip granola bars and
half-consumed cans of Cherry Pepsi were stacks of emergency contact
forms, boxes of latex gloves and several police radios.
For the second time in a week, the Grape Festival Grounds’
Burgundy Hall served as the command post for a multi-agency parole
and probation sweep in the northern part of San Joaquin County.
Although nine separate agencies participated in Wednesday’s
sweep, their efforts were coordinated by Sgt. William Alexander, of
the Lodi Police Department. While Alexander’s primary goals were
keeping the roughly 100 officers safe and apprehending criminals,
he also took satisfaction with how costs had been monitored in the

Clad in 20-pound bulletproof vests, officers from eight
different law enforcement agencies swept through Lodi on Friday
evening conducting parole and probation searches. The effort
focused on the northern part of San Joaquin County and featured
nine separate teams knocking on doors to make sure subjects weren't
violating conditions of their release. Each team included a
combination of state, federal and local law enforcement

Lodi police and two other agencies arrested 23 people after
searching 119 locations on Thursday and Friday, according to police
Detective Eric Bradley. Lodi police officers, San Joaquin County
Probation officers and California Parole agents teamed up for
compliance checks on gang members and high-priority offenders. The
purpose was to target repeat offenders in an effort to prevent
future crimes, Bradley said.

Volunteers discovered a remote control on Saturday at Lodi Lake
while picking up trash, but there was no TV to be found. The
clicker was the most unusual piece of trash discovered at the
eighth annual cleanup. Lodi Lake and the Mokelumne River were among
the more than 800 sites statewide where people cleaned up waterways
for the California Coastal Cleanup Day.

Officers from the Lodi and Galt police departments in connection
with other agencies arrested 27 people during the weekend in an
effort to target gang members and violent offenders, according to
Lodi police. Seven of those arrested are documented gang members,
according to Sgt. Tod Patterson.
