Background: He is a Vietnam veteran with three stars, a Combat Action Ribbon and Presidential Unit Citation. He spent 15 years in law enforcement before retiring and becoming a Christian pastor for another 13 years. He was a founding pastor of Lodi New Hope Community Church.
Family: He has been married to Debbie for 34 years. Their son Troy is 32 and is an agent with the Drug Enforcement Agency. Their daughter Stefany is 30 and is a customer service supervisor for a local company.
Career: He is self-employed as a merchant services broker.
Education: Graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary in Fresno.
Community activities and board memberships: Member of the United Way Lodi Area Community Council; San Joaquin County Probation Department Youth Accountability Board; Lodi Veteran’s Plaza Foundation; the San Joaquin County Juvenile Justice/Delinquency Prevention Committee; the Lodi Improvement Committee; and the Lodi District Chamber of Commerce Government Relations Committee. He is also a Lodi Police Department chaplain, and has been involved with the One-Eighty Teen Center.
