The Lodi 11s All-Star baseball team came into Friday in position
to win a state championship.

First Alejandro Avila hit a double that drove in the tying run
to send the game to extra innings.
Then he smacked another double to knock in the winning run as
the Lodi 11-year-old All-Star team defeated Central (Fresno) 4-3 in
walk-off fashion in eight innings on Wednesday night in the Cal
Ripken state tournament in Bakersfield.

With one Lodi team already headed to the Cal Ripken 13-15
baseball state tournament, another Lodi squad is making a strong
case to join it.
As hosts of the Cal Ripken District I Tournament that started
Friday at Kofu Park, Lodi's 13-15 All-Star team earned an automatic
bid to the state tournament and decided to not play at districts.
So another squad of 13-15 Lodi All-Stars entered the tournament and
have recorded two come-from behind victories.
The latest thrilling win came on Tuesday night when Ron Shaddox
hit a game-winning walkoff double to score Alex Eaton in the bottom
of the seventh inning for a 9-8 victory over Modesto.

The Lodi 11-year-old All-Star team came into the Cal Ripken
California state baseball tournament swinging and it resulted in a
13-5 win over Hanford in the opening round on a hot day in
Bakersfield on Monday.
Jaime Quesada went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs,
Taylor Knight went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, Alejando Avila
went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored, Jacob Jordan
singled, scored run and drove in a run and Diego Ramirez went
2-for-3 with double, three RBIs and a run scored to lead Lodi at

With their season on the line, the Lodi 10-year-old All-Stars
One loss away from elimination, Lodi swept Tracy 14-12 and 14-11
to win the Cal Ripken District I baseball championship on Wednesday
night in Ripon.

The Lodi 10-year-old All-Star team didn't give up when it found
itself down 3-0 after the top of the first inning in Monday night's
Cal Ripken District I Tournament semifinal game against Escalon in
Instead, its bats lit up. Lodi rallied for 13 hits and 19 runs
over the next three innings while shutting down Escalon on its way
to a 19-3 10-run mercy rule victory.
With the win, the 10-year-old squad clinched a state tournament
berth and is now headed to the District I championship game against
Tracy on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in Ripon. As the top two teams from
the district, both Lodi and Tracy automatically qualify for the
state tournament, which will be held in San Luis Obispo starting

The Lodi 11s All-Star team held off a late Ripon rally to
capture the Cal Ripken District I championship with a 5-4 victory
on Monday night at Salas Park.
Ripon forced a decisive game by handing Lodi its first loss of
the tournament, 6-4, earlier Monday.
Both teams had already clinched state berths and Lodi will open
play at the state championships in Bakersfield next Monday at 9

The Lodi 11-year-old All-Star baseball team is headed to the
state tournament and the Lodi 10s All-Stars are one win away from
clinching a state berth of their own.
The Lodi 11s squad defeated Ripon 4-1 on Saturday at Salas Park
in Cal Ripken District 1 Tournament action to earn a spot in
tonight's district championship at 5 p.m. at Salas. Lodi will once
again play Ripon, but both teams have already earned automatic bids
for the state tournament in Bakersfield beginning Friday.
