Hundreds and hundreds of nominations poured in for teachers this year! It was a pleasure hearing all of the special ways teachers are touching the lives of students in our community.

I travel through the intersection of Ham and Vine three times a day. Whether the statistics state it is dangerous or not, listen to the people who drive it day in and day out. I also live close-by and regularly hear the screech of tires and bangs from wrecks.

After cafeteria workers at several school sites reported being denied their paid break time, the classified union has filed a grievance against Lodi Unified School District.
Dan Morris, labor relations representative with the California School Employees Association, says he's heard from about 10 workers at each school site who are working more than four hours without a 15-minute break.

More than 40 Lodi Unified School District employees were honored
for 25 years or more of service to education in the district.
